You've Been Asleep for a Hundred Seconds

Raymond Shaw is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.

Jonathan Demme's remake of the 1962 classic The Manchrian Candidate opens in three weeks on July 30th. One of my favorite critics, Jeffery Wells says that in a way it may be better than the orignal!

Well I certainly hope this remake is better than Mr. Demme's last remake. Remember? No? Well, that's because it sucked so royally even Markie Mark, who was prominently featured in it, is still trying to erase it from his memory (Okay, you know that's not true but that boy was in Boogie Nights. He OBVIOUSLY has no shame so he's not really a good point of reference.)

Now what was I talking about? Oh yes, a little film called "The Truth About Charlie". It was nothing more than a crap ass remake the 1963 classic thriller "Charade" starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Shame on Demmey for attempting to toy with a masterpiece! Hey, here's an idea! Jonathan, how about you find a new, original script that has never been produced before? What a concept! Imagine the possibilities!

If The Manchrian Candidate doesn't completely rule, I say we burn Demme at the stake. If the verdict is hung between us Headstart for Happiness can be the tie breaker. Agreed?

P.S. For the record, I actually really liked Boogie Nights.

P.S.S But that's probably just because it was porn.

Deal! Headstart can be the tie breaker! BTW July 30th is a big weekend for movies in addition to The Manchurian Candidate, M. Night Shyamalan's The Village also opens.
